Party time

Here in the Fiechter cabin at 2,034m you can enjoy peace and quiet but it’s highly likely that a quaint ‘Ultner’ (called the inhabitants of Ultental Valley) will visit us, bringing his accordion along and creating a good atmosphere.

In autumn the annual ‘Almabtrieb’, a ceremonial driving down of cattle from the mountain pastures into the valley, takes place. In particular the shepherds celebrate the good health of the animals they looked after. Cows are decorated with elaborately worked garlands of flowers and huge cowbells.
